Try Us Out

If you have never played tennis before, or if you can play and are new to Kilkenny, there are various ways to try out the facilities in our club.

Friday Night American Tournaments

For Seniors and Premier Grade Juniors. Cost €7

If you are new to Kilkenny or do not know many people in the club, a great way to meet other members is to take part in the American tournaments which are on most Friday nights.

To play in an American tournament you must (a) put your name and tennis grade on the American tournament notice (on the club notice board) in the club or (b) call/text Coach Brian Doyle 086 8714941 before 18.00 on Friday nights. The American tournament nights start at 19.30 sharp. You will be allocated a partner of a similar grade to play with for the evening. Play normally lasts about two hours after which there will be finger food in the bar and a small presentation of prizes. There may be no tournaments on bank holiday weekends so please check with Brian Doyle. Rain (unless torrential !) does not stop play, so be aware that the show goes on.

Prospective new members are allowed to play in the American tournaments up to three times before becoming full members.

Green Fees

A member may invite a guest to play tennis but  you/they must pay green fees before going on court. Rates for green fees are listed on the wall outside the front door. Green fees can be paid in the bar or put in an envelope and put into the green fees box, in the front lobby. Guests are only permitted to play on a few occasions before they will be required to apply to join the club as a member. Members are very welcome to bring guests into the club bar.

Non-members will be allowed play in up to 3 American Tournaments for a green fee charge. After which time they must be full members to continue using club facilities.
