HOW TO GET A COURT
Please be aware that there is a queuing system for courts. Make sure that it is your turn before going on court. Please familiarise yourself with the Court usage policy. This is displayed on a very large blue & orange screen in the lobby. It sets out which courts and when are reserved for adult use, general use and for coaching.
Adult members playing with other Adult members have priority on Courts 3 & 4 at all times.
SIGNING IN
Players MUST SIGN the book on small table when arriving in lobby (time in). When you are going out on court, enter the time (time out) and also enter the number of the court (Court 1 to 8) you are taking. Be aware that there is a queuing system for courts. Make sure that it is your turn before going on court. Make sure everyone playing signs the book. If you do not enter time out and court number you may have to give up the court to other players.
TIME ALLOWED ON COURT
For singles: Time allowed on court is one hour from time out. After the hour is up you can be asked to leave the court to allow others to play. If there is no queue you may stay longer than the hour if you wish. If you are playing a league match you must state this in the signing in book and you can then stay on court until your match is finished. This does not apply to the Singles Box League where you have to leave the court after 1 hour (if there are people waiting for courts).
A court cannot be taken until both players have arrived to play.
For doubles: Time allowed on court is 1 ½ hours from time out. After the 1 ½ hours is up you can be asked to leave the court to allow others to play. If there is no queue you may stay longer than the 1 ½ hours if you wish. If you are playing a league match you must state this in the signing in book and you can then stay on court until your match is finished.
A court cannot be taken before two people of the four playing have arrived to play. Court time starts from time out, irrespective of whether there are two or more people on court.
LIGHTS
If needed, lights are paid before going on court. Check which court you are going to and put the money into the relevant power meter on the wall. €1 coins only. 15 minutes per euro. If you are waiting for a court that has lights on already, do not let the time run out on the meter (as it takes up to ten minutes for lights to re-heat once they go off). Put your money in the meter at one or two minutes left and go down to court to let the players know. When lights are switched on from cold they will go on immediately.
GRADING OF PLAYERS
Players are graded in the Club from Premier to beginner.
When you join the Club you will be assigned a Grade by the Tournament Committee.
This will depend on if you have played tennis before e.g. are you coming from another Tennis Club? Were you a really good Junior player? Do you play other sports?
Once assigned a Grade it can be reviewed within the first 12 months of membership.
